Style Review: Finger Coils/Twists

First I would like to say I will be updating with what I’ve been doing with my hair but I wanted to get this Style Review done while it’s fresh! This is also my 1st style since my BC.

What I Used:

Rat-tail comb
Water bottle
Hair Clips
Shea-Olive Oil Mix
Eco Styler Gel (Olive Oil)
YouTube Video from RimBlu4 (http://tinyurl.com/398uuuk)

What I Did:

First, I started off by co-washing my natural hair with Tresemme’s Flawless Curls Conditioner. This was I quick pick-up and I used it the whole month of June while I was only co-washing. I didn’t really focus on the ingredients (not at the stage yet) but I could tell it softened my hair and it smells pretty nice too.

Next, I rubbed a little bit of my Shea-Olive Oil mix that I made up the day before, on my lightly towel-dried hair for a little moisture.

Last but not least, I parted rows with my rat-tail comb (didn’t used it to actually create the twist) and started twisting sections of hair with my thumb and index fingers that were dabbed with Eco Styler Gel. Not too much though. As I went on, I found it easier to twist with both hands. When I got to the dryer parts I misted with water from my water bottle. As I started on the back, I found it a little easier to hold my hair done with the hair a clip, seeing as though I couldn’t see what was going on back there.

What I think:

I think I like this style. It gives me some diversity from my everyday Wash-N-Go which is what I was looking for. The style itself is easy to do, it’s just soooo time consuming. The Eco Styler Gel seems like it’s a good hold so I’m hoping the style will last throughout the week. Not really for the hard-n-crunchy so maybe next time I try this style I will mix the gel with some oil or shea butter to soften it up. Last night I lightly tied it with a scarf and topped it off with a satin cap. I’m sure both are not necessary but scarves never stay on my head so I wanted to insure that it did.

This morning I got up and rubbed some of my Shea-Olive Oil mix on it for a nice shine. Still amazes me how easily this stuff melts down.

I plan to un-coil it at the end of the week and see what it looks like. Will post some of pics of that as well.

As always,

Thanks for letting me share.
